The final score of the Jacksonville United and Storm FC match was a 1-1 tie, with both teams scoring in the second half.
Although no one team showed real domination, Storm United’s attackers and midfielders kept Jacksonville United’s goalie rather busy during the first half. This is not to say that there were not a few scares for Storm FC’s goalkeeper Hector Fernandez, who himself had a close moment or two. But by the end, neither team had scored.
Once the second half began, it was evident that both teams were eager to get the ball rolling and that they were shooting to score. No red cards were given during this match however, Storm FC’s Jack Hartley and Gyorgy Cseke both received yellow cards 15 minutes into the second half.
This did not dissuade the team. After numerous attempts at scoring by the mid-fielders, namely Raul Beneit, only five minutes later Faucundo Blanco became Storm FC’s scorer of the day. Jacksonville United scored 10 minutes before the end of the game to the dismay of the home team fans.
“The team came out strong and showed a united front,” Storm FC head coach Jose Garcia commented. “Scoring during the second half gave us the increased momentum we needed following an uneventful first half.”
The next Storm FC game will be away – against Miami Fusion at Milander Park – on Saturday June 13 at 7pm.
“We still have work to do in order to progress and become even stronger. As this is the beginning of the season, the team has many opportunities for growth and to become even stronger,” Garcia added.
