There is no question that Harry Redknapp is one of the biggest names in world football and that he knows the beautiful game better than anyone.  And his newest book, titled A Man Walks on to a Pitch: Stories from a Life in Football, is one of the most anticipated titles of 2015 and rightfully so.

The book is full of great stories from the 1950s to the present, profiling the greatest footballers the game has ever seen.  Each section contains a “top XI” for the decade, sharing several pages of content about each.  It’s a rather novel concept, not something you see every day.

You’ll hear some great stories about some of our favorites, including Duncan Edwards, Gordon Banks, George Best, and Gareth Bale to name just a few.  Overall you’ll hear about a total of 66 players, really incredible when you consider the book is less than 350 pages.

The best part of the book is Redknapp himself, someone with incredible insights about how the game is and should be played.  He’s  seen the game from different angles and places, providing the readers with an absolutely incredible perspective.

It’s an easy read, thanks to a very conversational style.  It’s almost like having a private chat with Redknapp.   The entire book has a great flow and is very organized throughout.  Great photographs complement the content and take you on a trip back in time for some great moments.

You are going to need this book if you love English football.  It’s truly a must-have for any collection, a title you can’t go wrong with.  It’s a lovely book all around.
