Home/English Football/Freddie Ljungberg Joins Soccernet.com as Contributor, Analyst on ESPNSoccernet Press Pass

Soccernet.com has launched a column penned by soccer star Freddie Ljungberg.  As a regular contributor, Ljungberg will share his insights and commentary on several topics surrounding the game of soccer.  In his first column, Ljungberg adds his thoughts on the World Cup qualifying teams, the transition to MLS and playing midfielder for the Seattle Sounders, soccer in the U.S. and how it compares to his experiences playing in Europe.  The full column can be found HERE.

He will also occasionally join hosts Adrian Healey and Derek Rae and analysts Tommy Smyth, Janusz Michallik, Shaka Hislop and Robbie Mustoe as a guest on ESPNSoccernet Press Pass.  The program, which airs five days per week, gives fans in Australia, New Zealand, Africa, Israel, the Caribbean and the Middle East a chance to stay up to date on the latest global soccer news and opinion leading up to the 2010 FIFA World Cup South Africa.  Fans will also be able to watch segments from ESPNSoccernet Press Pass featuring Ljungberg on ESPNSoccernet.com.

Ljungberg’s 15-year professional career in soccer adds invaluable insights and opinions to the latest news on the pitch.  He began his professional career playing for Halmstad BK before joining Arsenal FC where he became a key player on the undefeated team that went on to capture the 2004 EPL title.  The Swedish native also participated in the 2002 and 2006 World Cup tournaments and the Euro 2000, 2004 and 2008 for his home country’s national team.  His experience with fame and popularity as a model and product endorser will add new dimensions to discussions about the lives of players off the pitch as well.
