Sacramento Gold FC is pleased to announce the addition of Derek Evans to the coaching staff as an assistant coach.

Evans brings tremendous local, national, and international experience to the Gold. Since 1989, the Guyana native has been a part of San Juan Soccer Club as both a girls and boys coach. Evans has also served as an assistant coach at American River College and earned both a NSCAA National Diploma and USSF “A” License.

Before he began his coaching career, Evans was a well-known player. After playing for San Jose State University, Evans was drafted by the Oakland Stompers of the original North American Soccer League (NASL). He went on to play for the Edmonton Drillers and San Jose Earthquakes. While with the Earthquakes, Evans played alongside one of the greatest players in soccer history, George Best. Evans was also named to the United States Olympic Team.

Evans will make his Sacramento Gold debut during the team’s first game of the season on Saturday, March 19th. The Gold will host Real San Jose at 7 p.m. at Capital Christian High School.
