AFC Rushden and Diamonds U-18s played their historic first-ever match against a Raunds Town Reserves side at Kiln Park on Saturday, August 6th.
In front of an impressive crowd of more than 350, the AFC R&D U-18 team managed by Mark Starmer, took a while to settle and found themselves 3-0 down at halftime. The second half proved much more even affair as the match finished 3-0 to Raunds. The result seemed immaterial, as it was a fantastic achievement for the newly formed community club to take to the field for the first time.
AFC Rushden and Diamonds continue their preseason build up with a match at Wellingborough Whitworths on Thursday August 11th with a 7:45pm kickoff.
AFC Rushden and Diamonds have also announced their final preseason friendly against Irchester United on Monday August 22nd at 7:45pm; this match will be played at Irchester United FC.
