Mount Union got a goal in the first half to beat Heidelberg 1-0 and picked up three big points in the Ohio Athletic Conference standings on Senior Night Monday night at Mount Union Stadium.

The Purple Raiders honored senior Zach Traynor as being the only senior in the graduating class of 2021.

The win moves Mount Union to 4-2 overall and 4-2 in the Ohio Athletic Conference. The 12 points puts them alone in fourth place with a week left in the regular season. The OAC’s top six teams after next weekend advance to the conference tournament.

Heidelberg falls to 0-7 overall and 0-7 in the OAC.

Junior Adam Passino scored the lone goal in the 41st minute off a perfect pass from junior goalkeeper Mikey Contreras for the Raiders. Contreras made four saves on the night completing his third shutout in four games.

Mount Union outshot Heidelberg 17-6 in the game.

Mount Union finishes the regular season on the road with matches Thursday, April 8th at 7:00 pm at Baldwin Wallace and Sunday, April 11th at 2:00 pm at Ohio Northern.
