The National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) is proud to announce that Minneapolis City SC (Minneapolis, MN) has joined the league as an expansion team.  The club will compete in the Midwest Region’s North Conference.

“We are very excited to add to our league’s footprint in Minnesota,” NPSL Chairman Joe Barone commented. “Minneapolis City SC brings a proven brand and a strong following to our Midwest Region.  They represent a great start to our announcement of the newly rebranded North Conference.”

Minneapolis City SC is led by Managing Director Dan Hoedeman, Sporting Director Jon Bisswurm, Business Director Sarah Schreier, Community Director Nick Sindt, and Head Coach Adam Pribyl.

The first of the club’s three founders, Hoedeman is a Minneapolis native and lifelong soccer player who works in the advertising business.  Bisswurm, a childhood friend of Hoedeman’s, played at Kaiserslautern in Germany before returning to America.  He is currently undefeated as a coach in U.S. Open Cup play.  Sindt rounds out the team of founders and focuses on community outreach.

One of the few women in a leadership position at a club in this level, Schreier is a visionary and creative thinker who is deeply involved with the club.  She was a standout youth player at Minneapolis suburban club PSA.  A lauded goalkeeper at St John’s, Pribyl is athletic director at Minneapolis’ DeLaSalle High School.

“We bring a lot of passion, a fantastically talented set of players, and a weirdly successful social media game that has significantly raised interest in this level of soccer in Minnesota,” Hoedeman added. “Hopefully that gets soccer in the North a little more recognition nationally.”

Minneapolis City SC is a supporter-owned club that is committed to developing Minnesota’s top amateur players and giving them a platform to compete on a national level. Often called ‘the people’s club,” City is a labor of love and the result of hard work and dedication from a large cross-section of Minneapolitans who see soccer as a way to make a difference in their community.  Founded as an extension of Stegman’s Soccer Club, 14-time Minnesota amateur champions and nine-time Minnesota Cup winners, City exclusively fields players who call Minnesota home. A strong community focus includes specific outreach to and financial support of players, outreach to inner communities, and engagement with urban youth clubs.

“We want to create a platform for Minnesota’s top amateur players to develop and showcase their talents,” Hoedeman concluded. “We’re a small state soccer-wise, but the talent is here and we want to test ourselves at a national level.”
