A total of four teams based out of Louisville travelled to the Tournament of Champions in Fort Wayne, IN. This event features the state and league championship teams from the Midwest Region’s 14 state associations. The Men’s Open Championship game was won after a tense 2-2 tie

Cincinnati Rolls by the Vortex

The Cincinnati Kings professional indoor soccer team earned their fourth win of the season and outscored Canton-based Ohio Vortex, 10-6. Eddie Hertsenberg, Jeff Hughes and Drew Ducker each added two goals while Kenney Bertz, Matt Breines, Kwame Sarkodie and George Davis IV chipped in one goal apiece. Goalkeeper Craig Salvati earned his fourth consecutive win in the net for the Kings. The Kings’ next home match is Saturday, Dec. 18 against San Diego, 7:35 p.m. at the Cincinnati Gardens.

Vortex Fall in First Road Game of the Season

The Cincinnati Kings (4-0) came away with a 10-6 victory over the Ohio Vortex (1-2) after a strong second half performance. Former Cleveland City Stars midfielder Steve Gillespie would put the Vortex on the board early in the first quarter, but Cincinnati would fight back to bring the score to 1-1. A goal by Drew Ducker would push the Kings to 2-1, but Milko Cecez evened things up minutes later. Cincinnati’s Eddie Herstenberg and Ohio’s John Ball brought the score to 3-3

Four Leagues=Bad Idea

The past two weeks have been quite bizarre for the sport of indoor soccer. Two new leagues, the USL-I League and the ASA, announced they will begin play in 2011. The announcement of USL’s professional indoor league was not much of a surprise considering their roots in the indoor game. Rumors of the league have been around for several months. Three teams will begin play in fall of 2011: Syracuse (NY), Rochester (NY), and Hampton Roads (VA). I completely respect Chris Economides,

It’s Time to Go Indoors with the PASL

We are only a few weeks into the PASL-Pro season, but there is a great deal to talk about. First and foremost, there is a lot of excitement surrounding the expansion franchises in Louisville, San Diego, and Cleveland/Canton (Ohio). The Louisville Lightning had a sellout for their first home match, which was a near miss against Cincinnati. This was followed up by a 8-3 drubbing of the Detroit Waza in front of another capacity crowd at Mockingbird Valley Soccer Club.

Farber Signs with California Cougars

In a recent interview, midfielder Brain Farber told us that he would be returning to Stockton to play for the Cougars.  Farber, who spends his time outdoors with the USL’s Portland Timbers, had several other offers to consider before making this decision.  Brian considered opportunities with Monterrey La RaZa and the Milwaukee Wave.  He chose the Cougars because of a desire to work on a project called Next Level Football Academy, which includes an interactive website for players and coaches.  Farber has
