Men’s College Soccer: Mount Union Defeats Washington and Jefferson 3-1

Mount Union’s men’s soccer team defeated Washington and Jefferson College 3-1 n a non-conference match Saturday, Sept. 27 in Washington, Pa. The Purple Raiders advance to 5-3 on the year as the Presidents fall to 3-5. Mount Union got on the board first when senior Jack Weber scored off a deflected through ball and found the back of the net making the score 1-0. A game winning goal in the second overtime by Trever Wendel gave Mount Union the 3-2 victory over Allegheny (Pa.) Tuesday, Sept. 23 at Mount Union Stadium. The victory advances the Purple Raiders to 4-3 on the season while Allegheny (Pa.) drops to 4-4-1 on the season. Mount Union’s men’s soccer team defeated Bluffton 3-0 Wednesday in their home opener of the 2014 season. The win advances Mount Union to 3-2 overall while Bluffton falls to 1-5. Freshman Trever Wendel scored at the 16:12 mark off a through ball from freshman Carter Dunn making the score 1-0 leading into halftime. Heading into halftime Mount Union extended the lead 2-0 after a Bluffton foul led to a cross by senior Jack Weber which was headed into the net by sophomore Kevin Blackley. Mount Union’s men’s soccer team defeated St. Vincent 4-1 Wednesday in Latrobe, Pa.  The win evens Mount Union’s record at 2-2 overall while St. Vincent falls to 2-4 on the season. Senior Colin Combs gave the Purple Raiders (2-2) an early 1-0 lead as he scored at the 14:09 mark. Zanesville Signs Three

Zanesville Athletic (ZAFC) has announced the first three signings in club history.  Tyler Graziani, Colin Combs and Ryan McClay will be sporting ZAFC green and black in 2013. Graziani, from Imperial, Pennsylvania, recently finished his first season with the Xavier University Musketeers where he made five appearances as a freshman.  In high school, Graziani was selected to the All-Section and All-Conference teams in 2009, 2010, and 2011 for West Alleghany High School.  In 2011 he was chosen as a member
