AFC Cleveland, Northeastern Ohio’s newest sports franchise, is proud to announce to announce the signing of Mount Union striker Thomas Beck and defender Phil Spagnolo. Beck, a Poland (OH) native and Cardinal Mooney graduate, was the leading scorer for the Purple Raiders as a sophmore in 2011. He tallied 12 goals and 4 assists on his way to All-OAC First Team honors. Beck was also named OAC Men’s Soccer Player of the Week for 9/19/11 and landed on the 2011 Lycoming

Mount Union men’s soccer team (10-6-2) finished off the regular season with a 1-0 victory against Otterbein (3-14-2). Two goals from sophmore striker Joey Merlo helped the Mount Union Men’s Soccer team deliver a 3-0 win over Marietta. Marietta was no match for Mount Union as the Purple Raiders rolled to a 3-0 victory. Mount dominated the game with quick offensive strikes and solid defensive play. The first goal of the match came in the 20th minute as Kevin Cindric set up Merlo with a pass in the box. Marietta keeper Chris Stollar couldn’t keep this one out despite ending
