United), forward Akeil Barrett (Orlando City SC), forward Kharlton Belmar (Portland Timbers), and midfielder Eric Bird (Philadelphia Union). Parker was also a standout for the Brooklyn Italians. Part of the NPSL’s mission is to develop players at the collegiate level. That mission is accomplished if you look at some of the nation’s marquee matchups in NCAA soccer this season. The matchup between the University of Akron and Virginia Commonwealth University has to be at the top of that list. The NPSL Championship game will be played Sunday, August 4th at 7 pm ET/4 pm PT in Richmond, VA. The match will be played at Sports Backers Stadium, the home of VCU soccer.
