This is the 52nd edition of Africa’s premier club football tournament organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the 20th edition under the current CAF Champions League format. The CAF Champions League is the equivalent of the UEFA Champions League with the winner of the competition receiving $1,500,000 in prize money to go along with qualification to the FIFA Club World Cup.

The defending champions are TP Mazembe, winning the trophy five times. The 2016 edition of Africa’s prestigious football clubs competition begun a month ago with the first preliminary round of matches.

The first preliminary saw a lot of teams drop out of the champions league with Ghanaian champions Asante Gold football club failing to qualify to the next stage.

This round of matches will feature the top clubs in Africa, which are seeded. The first leg of the second preliminary round are scheduled for this weekend and the matches are as follows:
