Thomas Beck: The Pride of Northeast Ohio

Home/U.S. Soccer Leagues/NPSL/AFC Cleveland/Thomas Beck: The Pride of Northeast Ohio

Thomas Beck can certainly be called a fan favorite at AFC Cleveland, having been there from the very beginning. He has been a superb collegiate player at both the Division I (Cleveland State) and III levels (Mount Union) and now faces his next challenge, the NPSL Combine Tournament.

This is an opportunity that Beck relishes for the right reasons.

“I’m thrilled to have been given the opportunity to participate in the NPSL Combine and represent AFC Cleveland.  The Midwest Region is comprised of high quality, competitive players that I’m looking forward to playing with, in what should be an exciting weekend.  I’m honored to have been nominated by the AFC Cleveland organization and thankful for all of the support they have provided.”

Beck is hoping to put in some solid performances, something that would impress the many scouts and coaches in attendance. Doing it in the sunny confines of Ft. Lauderdale is an added bonus, given the deep freeze hitting Northeast Ohio at the moment.

The Poland, Ohio native is a versatile player that has become known for his tireless motor and an uncanny ability to create chances out of thin air. His coaches say he is sound on the ball with good technique and a creative eye for the attack. He should be an asset for any pro team looking for a playmaker, one that is unselfish and happy to set up teammates for the goal scoring glory.

Don’t get us wrong, Beck has scored a LOT of goals. Make that 31 goals in three seasons with the Purple Raiders. But he is also happy claiming loads of assists as noted by the 21 assists during that same period.

A couple of things are for certain in Ft. Lauderdale. First and foremost, no one is going to outwork the Cardinal Mooney grad thanks to his blue-collar upbringing in the Youngstown area. And second, the team that decides to sign Beck after the combine is going to be very, very happy.

They aren’t going to be the only ones cracking a smile or cheering loudly. Soccer fans across Northeast Ohio are going to be celebrating the success of one of our own.
