The City Stars received some devestating news this week with the resignation of GM Mark Geissbauer. Geissbauer was always visible at home matches as he greeted fans that soon became friends. He helped create a welcoming environment for all that share a passion for soccer. Geissbauer was recognized several times for his work in the front office, but was also active in community service in the Cleveland area and in Mozambique as well. The Seattle Times and GolTV were among the first to report this high honor for the Seattle Sounders forward. Montero scored three goals and produced an assist in just two games for the Sounders. This is quite an accomplishment for a young player on an expansion team. Many expected Montero to take a “backseat” to bigger names like Kasey Keller and Freddie Ljungberg. That is definitely not the case so far this season. We look forward to watching Montero develop into a star here in MLS.
