Columbus Crew SC were at the wrong end of an incredible comeback as they finished with a 3-3 draw against Toronto FC at MAPFRE Stadium.
Kei Kamara, Ethan Finlay, Sebastian Giovinco, and Jozy Altidore all scored for their respective clubs, giving fans quite a show when it came to the big-name players. Tony Tchani and Collen Warner also added goals of their own, but none was more important than the 89th minute penalty kick from Altidore, a score that sealed the draw for the visitors.
It was quite a comeback for Toronto, who found themselves down 3-0 in the 47th minute.
Tonight’s attendance of 21,324 at MAPFRE Stadium was a season-high and the second sellout of the year for Crew SC.
With either a win or a draw at TFC’s BMO Field on October 17, Crew SC would guarantee itself the Trillium Cup for the sixth time in eight editions of the annual rivalry series.
