The Mount Union women’s soccer team defeated Ohio Athletic Conference opponent Baldwin Wallace 1-0 in the second conference game of the season.

Purple Raider senior Carolyn Balzano (Poland/Poland Seminary) placed the ball in the top left corner of Baldwin Wallace’s (7-5-1, 1-1) net to tally the only goal of the game in the 48th minute. Her goal helped lead the Raiders to a 1-0 victory, which is the team’s first win over the Yellow Jackets since 2013.

Recording nine saves and her first shutout of the season was junior goalkeeper Paige FreelĀ (Niles/Niles McKinley).

The Raiders now advance to 1-1 in conference play and 5-6 overall after Tuesday night’s win at Mount Union Stadium.

Mount Union next travels to Tiffin, Ohio to play Heidelberg on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 1 p.m.
