As a result a $1,000 donation was made by Staples to American Youth Soccer Organization (AYSO) Region 208. The charity was selected by the leadership of FC Wichita.

“Staples Print Solutions, a division of Staples Advantage, is proud to partner with the National Premier Soccer League again this year,” Staples Print Solutions VP of Sales Mike Guon commented. “Staples is committed to supporting local communities and as part of the ‘Make More Happen Staples Goal of the Year’ contest, we are proud to support FC Wichita’s $1,000 donation to AYSO, which will help provide quality soccer programs.”

The goal was chosen by fans and supporters during a week of online voting, defeating 11 other nominees.

“It’s a bit of a surprise to be recognized as goal of the year, but I’m extremely honored,” Ten Eyck added. “It’s pretty crazy how fast it went viral over all the social media platforms. Being born and raised in Wichita, any publicity we can get for the game of soccer in Wichita is a good thing. I started my playing career with AYSO and I know they’ve given thousands of kids their start. I hope this donation will help AYSO and keep local kids playing soccer.”

The goal was indeed very popular on social media with over 129,000 views on YouTube alone.

“Our partnership with FC Wichita is critical to building a positive soccer culture for our community,” AYSO Region 208 Director Craig Bay. “Staples’ generous gift in recognition of Kevin’s Goal of the Year will go directly to field improvements for our players.”
