The 2020 United Soccer Coaches Convention in Baltimore kicked off with a bang thanks to the NWSL Draft. The players were surrounded by loved ones and fans that were showing their excitement for these athletes to be drafted. It was amazing to see these 36 young women’s dreams of becoming a professional soccer player come true.
After the draft, the convention continued to be an amazing event full of great lectures, training sessions, speakers, and coaches that truly make it a breeding ground for all athletes and coaches to learn and grow with the sport of soccer.
The world’s largest gathering of soccer coaches proved to be the event of the year as all the big names found themselves in Baltimore, including Jill Ellis, Anson Dorrance, and April Heinrichs to name just a few.
Sessions that drew rave reviews included Gary Curneen’s Improving the Individual in a Team Game, Betsy Butterick’s Confrontation for Connection, and Cristina Fink’s Supporting Performance Through Psychology.
The All-American Ceremony and Reception was the highlight of the week for the country’s top high school, club, and soccer players. The event honored the very best, including three players from local club Internationals SC.
The convention was a major boon for the Baltimore community as the event brought incredible economic impact to the area with over 10,000 attendees coming to town. The countdown now begins for the 2021 United Soccer Coaches Convention in Anaheim, California, which is sure to draw an enormous crowd.
