Home/U.S. Soccer Leagues/WPSL/Big Wins for Ohio Galaxies to End Season

The Ohio Galaxies WPSL team played Fort Wayne at Wright State University on Saturday, July 7th. After some initial pressure from Fort Wayne, the Galaxies were able to dominate with a successful 7-1 finish. The goals were scored by Madison Melnick (2) and Juliana Libertin (2) with Sarah Senyouit, Erin Gill, Lauren Patterson each with single goals.

The Galaxies would then face Ohio Premier Elite for the second time of the season. Their first meeting resulted in a 2-2 tie. On Sunday evening, again at Wright State University- Alumni Field, the Galaxies women proved too tough for Ohio Premier Elite players. They won the game 2-0 with goals scored by Stephanie Emery and Juliana Libertin. Both players are currently attending and playing at the University of Dayton.

Chris Black, head coach of the Ohio Galaxies WPSL team, talked about the success of the team and the benefit of playing in the WPSL league.

“Our team has performed well over the season and has really bought into becoming better individually and as a team throughout the summer. We won our side of the league and accumulated 11 points for the season.”

“In terms of women’s soccer in America, I think it is constantly evolving and getting better and better,” Black added. “The WPSL is a very good summer league for players to continue playing during their offseason. This is just another opportunity that wasn’t around 10 or 15 years ago and has really helped grow and get people excited about the game of soccer.”
