How do you make the best better? Ask the folks at EA Sports. They made one of the all-time greats (FIFA 15) into the best game ever (FIFA 16).
The massive move forward was as a result of “the biggest and most collaborative effort in franchise history,” which means the game’s developers actually listened to feedback from all of us. That is impressive to say the least, considering the manpower it would take to read reviews and comb through thousands of tweets, Facebook messages, and forum posts each and every day.
The result are improvements in the game, things like a FUT Draft and the addition of women’s national teams. All in the name of making the best better. It’s great that the folks at EA Sports actually listen to their fans.
Everything about FIFA 16 is epic, but none better than Career Mode. This happens to be our favorite and it got even better with preseason tournaments and player training. It has the simulation gamers usually look for in Football Manager combined with the world’s best gameplay experience.
Gameplay is smooth as passing, shooting, and moving across the pitch has never been more realistic. It’s both realistic and fun to play, something that is not easy to accomplish. Gameplay continues to be one of FIFA’s strengths as is the incredible amount of options. You’ll never get bored with this one, at least not until FIFA 17 comes out.
We appreciate the extra attention that was paid in the area of atmosphere with new stadiums being added. More time spent on the German Bundesliga, thanks to new broadcast presentations, makes sense as the league is one of the world’s best (if not the best).
The amount of teams, leagues, and players available is unrivaled and this is where the FIFA series always shines over its competition. You won’t ever be frustrated by playing as a generic team with generic players with this series. Real leagues, teams, and players (and plenty of them) are the foundation of this series and it makes a big difference.
What is our wish list for FIFA 17? It will be hard to top this year’s edition, but EA has a habit of doing just that:
- Further options for the women’s national teams
- An even deeper and more robust Career Mode, one that would rival Football Manager in every regard
- The inclusion of even more American leagues, like the NASL and USL
- More second division leagues so the promotion/relegation battles can have an even bigger punch
If FIFA 17 is of the same quality as FIFA 16, it will still be a massive success. But knowing all of the work that EA puts into every game, we know that the best game ever will be even better with FIFA 17.
