The Meijer State Games of Michigan is excited to announce that the Grand Rapids Football Club (GRFC) will compete in the 2016 Summer Games Soccer Tournament on July 29-31. GRFC will open the tournament with a game at EGR Memorial Stadium on Friday, July 29. GRFC will then participate in the rest of the tournament on July 30-31 at MVP Fieldhouse, giving opposing teams across the state the opportunity to try to beat a minor league soccer team. The tournament gives anyone regardless of age or ability level the chance to compete.
“We are very excited to participate in the Meijer State Games of Michigan,” Grand Rapids Football Club founder Matt Roberts stated. “The game of soccer has grown by leaps and bounds over the last 5-10 years and to see tournaments like this being played is just a validation that soccer is arriving in the United States. We want to let players and teams out there that believe they can play at this level have that opportunity and continue to grow the game at the grassroots level.”
Registration for the Meijer State Games of Michigan Soccer Tournament closes on July 15. To register for the opportunity to compete against GRFC, please visit http://stategamesofmichigan.com/soccer for more information.
