Women’s Soccer: Mount Union’s Nicole Lanese Named OAC Women’s Soccer Player of the Week

Editor September 26, 2016

Mount Union sophomore Nicole Lanese (Macedonia/Nordonia) was named Ohio Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Player of the Week (Sept. 26).

Lanese scored seven goals in two games last week, leading the team to a 1-1 record with a win over Defiance (9-1) and an overtime loss to Grove City (4-3). Her five-goal game against Defiance broke the Mount Union women’s soccer individual record for most goals scored in a game, which was last set at four by Kelsey Malenic at Muskingum in 2014.

On the season, Lanese has started six games and leads the team with nine goals and 19 points overall.

Mount Union, 3-5 overall in non-conference play, takes on Waynesburg (Pa.) Tuesday, Sept. 27 at 8 p.m. at Mount Union Stadium.
