The National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), the first and only men’s league designated by USASA as a Tier 1 national league, is proud to announce that American Soccer Club New York has joined the league. The club will begin play in the 2025 season.
“The NPSL leadership team is thrilled to partner with the professional organization and management team behind American Soccer Club New York,” NPSL Managing Director Cindy Spera said. “Long Island, New York is a strong and competitive market with enormous potential. American Soccer Club New York is positioning themselves as the marquee team in downstate New York and an organization that the NPSL can build around. It will be exciting to see this team engage with the community, develop a supporter base, and reach into an untapped player pool through their unique recruitment model. We look forward to seeing their business develop within the NPSL family.”
The club is led by Jim Kilmeade and Kevin Reardon.
A Long Island, New York native, Kilmeade’s involvement with the sport of soccer began as a youth player in the Long Island Junior Soccer League with the Massapequa Soccer Club. He went on to captain both his Massapequa High School and Hofstra University Teams. He continued his playing career in the Long Island Soccer Football League and Northeast Super League with AC Glen Cove, Massapeque Re-United and the USL’s New York Nationals.
His sports marketing career began with the NY Arrows of the Major Indoor Soccer League and continued as a front office executive in the USISL, USL, A-League, and NHL. Kilmeade’s career has spanned across multiple sports business platforms. His experience ranges from the sportswear industry with both Umbro North America and FILA USA. He also works in the facilities development and synthetic turf industries with A-Turf, installing over 200 fields nationwide. He has also been active in the professional soccer industry as the co-creator and architect of the Long Island Rough Riders and Lady Riders USISL National Championship teams.
“American Soccer Club New York will launch with a community-centric focus that reflects the values and character of the Long Island Metro New York area,” Kilmeade said. “On and off the playing field, the players and staff will represent the highly competitive nature of our community. Our mission is to identify and develop our best local players and launch their careers on the professional stage both domestically and internationally. Our goal is to reestablish our area as the centerpiece of American soccer.”
Reardon is a product of the NYC metro area soccer community, having been involved from the late 1960s to the present. After much success at the CYO and youth club levels, he went on to play at Fordham University, where he captained the team and obtained his degree as a springboard to his licensure as a NYS CPA. Reardon was also part of the German Hungarians, playing alongside renowned professionals like Stewart Gormal, Nelsi Morais, Farrukh Quraishi, and Jorge Siega at the Met Oval.
Reardon, who has experience playing and coaching domestically and in Europe, continued as a player through his over-30 days and obtained his USSF National C license. He has parlayed his professional credentials as a private equity real estate investor/operator into facility-related advisory services to the soccer community.
