Tryouts Announced for Cape Coral

Editor December 31, 2012

One of the newest clubs in the NPSL, the Cape Coral Hurricanes will hold their first tryout session of the season on the weekend of Friday, January 25th – Sunday, January 27th for all eligible players of any age. This is the first step towards building a team for the upcoming inaugural season in the fourth tier of U.S. Soccer. The premier men’s squad will face high quality competition as it strives toward the league playoffs and to qualify for the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

The Hurricanes are looking for players that currently hold amateur status, that are currently playing in college or are former college or professional players looking to still compete at a high level.  As the NPSL season primarily takes place during the summer months, local players and current college players will have the opportunity to get a significant amount of exposure while competing at a professional level.

The Hurricanes will play in the NPSL’s South Region in the newly formed Sunshine Conference that features teams from major markets such as Atlanta, Miami, Jacksonville, and Tampa.  There will be ten official league games culminating with regional and national playoffs that will result in a national champion.  The Hurricanes will have a competitive schedule featuring at least 8-10 home games, including special pre-season and promotional games.

“We’ve been working toward this goal for over two years,” Hurricanes General Manager J.P. Terrasi stated. “We had a very successful exhibition season last year and are so proud that we are going to be playing in this growing and nationally renowned league.  The NPSL is a perfect fit for our club and we are extremely excited about having major market teams come into town from Atlanta, Miami and Tampa.”

Early registration has been discounted from $195 to only $125 and includes at least two days of trials and competition along with a team jersey, shorts, commemorative t-shirt, lunch, drinks and snacks.
