Seattle put on quite a show during their MLS debut. They played great soccer in a great stadium with a great crowd. They shut out the New York Bulls scoring three goals even without their star (and designated player) Freddie Ljungberg.
Seattle’s Fredy Montero was named MLS Player of the Week after his superior performance. Montero scored two goals and added an assist in the victory. He is sure to be a rising star in MLS. The excitement surrounding the debut of the Sounders has energized the league. It reminds me of “the good old days” of the NASL.
