AFC Cleveland is proud to the signing of midfielder Antonio Manfut, who was most recently a player with the Syracuse Silver Knights of the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL).
“Antonio is a talented young player with a wealth of experience,” AFC Cleveland assistant coach Aaron McGuiness stated. “We are really looking forward to the attacking options he will bring to the squad.”
The Maple Heights, OH native made 28 appearances for the Silver Knights, registering seven goals and five assists from 54 shots.
The young soccer phenom turned pro at the age of 17, going on trial with Mexican side Pachuca FC, a team that competes in the Liga MX. Within a year, he would be a professional in America’s top indoor league with Syracuse.
He was named to the MISL Team of the Week in February 2014 and once again reinforced his reputation as a clutch scorer by landing the game-winning goal against the Baltimore Blast in 2014 MISL postseason.
“I am very excited to be playing for AFC Cleveland this season,” Manfut concluded. “I hope to do my best to contribute to the team and help make us a real contender in the league.”
