The Columbus Crew (4-5-7, 19 points) fought through humid conditions to earn a point at home in a scoreless draw with FC Dallas (6-7-5, 23 points) on Sunday afternoon at Columbus Crew Stadium.

“We are not happy,” Crew midfielder Justin Meram stated. “We definitely could have got three points. We did not create enough, including myself. The first half I thought we were pretty good. The second half, I am not sure what happened, but we need create more chances.”

Following Major League Soccer’s postponement of the match from the previous evening, goalkeeper Steve Clark was able to hold FC Dallas scoreless to earn his fourth shutout of 2014 overall. It was also Clark’s second consecutive shutout after duplicating the feat in the Black & Gold’s previous League match, June 7 at D.C. United before the 2014 FIFA World Cup break.

Jairo Arrieta notched three shots to pace Columbus in the match, while also nearly scoring in the 84th minute on a chance in front of Dallas’ goal that found the side netting. New acquisition Alvaro Rey made his team debut as well, coming on as a second-half substitute for Justin Meram.

The Crew is now set to hit the road on consecutive weekends, beginning with an Independence Day encounter against Colorado Rapids at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park on Friday, July 4 (9:30 p.m. ET/Time Warner Cable SportsChannel).
