Mount Union women’s soccer team defeated D’Youville (N.Y.) Sunday afternoon 2-1 in the home opener of the 2014 season.
The first goal of the 2014 season for the Raiders went to senior Allison Fouss at the 42:58 mark of the first half. Fouss charged the net and put back a shot from freshman Sarah Jaroszyk that was blocked by D’Youville keeper Morgan Price.
Senior Nicole Moldovan scored the second goal for the Raiders six minutes into the second half of play with a header off a corner kick by sophomore Amanda Davies.
A long shot from Terra Juda at the 61:12 mark of the second half would be the Spartans only goal of the game.
Getting the start in the net for the Raiders was Maria Favorite, who saw two shots from the Spartans as Mount Union out shot D’Youville 19-3 earning her the win.
