Another Busy Week for UMU Soccer

Mount Union Drops Overtime Game at Wooster

Mount Union (1-2) men’s soccer lost the game at Wooster (2-1) in overtime by a score of 1-0.  The Purple Raiders had their chances as they had eight shots on goal and four corner kicks in the contest.  The only game of the game came in the 94th minute by Manny Burton of Wooster.

Mount Union will play their next game in Mount Union Stadium Saturday at 3 p.m.

Lanese Scores Two Goals as Mount Union Wins in the Second Overtime at Mount St. Joseph

Mount Union (3-0) women’s soccer beats Mount St. Joseph (2-1) in double overtime by a score of 3-2.

Junior Nicole Lanese (Macedonia/Nordonia) scored two unassisted goals in the contest including the game-winning goal in the 104th minute.

The scoring was started in the 15th minute off the foot of Mount St. Joseph forward Alley Schmidt. Lanese scored her first goal of the game for the Purple Raiders just five minutes later in the 20th minute to make the score 1-1 at halftime.

The Lions were quick to get on the board in the second half when they scored in the 53rd minute off the foot of Lindsey Potzick. The Raiders scored the game tying goal with just 11 seconds to play (90′) in regulation by freshman Cortni Arp (Copley/Copley) to make the score 2-2 going into overtime.

The Raiders will be playing their home opener Saturday, September 9 at 1 p.m. against Westminster.
