Clarkstown SC Eagles forward Bljedi Bardic has been selected as the seventh Mitre National Player of the Week for the 2016 NPSL season.
Bardic scored four goals against Greater Binghamton FC Thunder on Saturday, May 14. He now has a total of six goals and one assist in the first two games of the season.
“We started the game strong with many opportunities, but could not put our chances away until Bljedi scored a brace at the end of the first half,” Clarkstown SC Eagles head coach Oliver Papraniku commented. “He then followed up with a very strong second half and another brace.”
The Montenegrin striker has been the leading scorer for the Eagles over the past three seasons. He registered 12 goals and four assists in 2014 and followed that up with an even stronger 2015 season, where he tallied 14 goals and five assists.
“It was a tough start of the game, but got better once I started to put the ball in the net,” Bardic added.
The Mitre National Player of the Week is announced every Friday during the regular season. The winner of this national honor is determined by a vote of media members from across the country.
