Beck Leads Purple Raiders to Victory

Editor October 12, 2013

Senior Thomas Beck’s two goals led Mount Union’s men’s soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Wilmington on Saturday night in an Ohio Athletic Conference matchup.

Mount Union improves to 7-6-0, 2-1-0 in the OAC, while Wilmington falls to 4-9-1 overall and 1-2-0 in OAC action.

The Purple Raiders were unable to generate any shots in the first half of action as Wilmington outshot the Raiders 7-0 in the first half.

It wasn’t until the 57th minute when Beck would bury the ball unassisted. He would score again at the 72:00 minute mark to put the Raiders up 2-0.

Daniels Wick’s goal would come off a penalty kick to put the Quakers within one, after Raiders goalkeeper Dylan Lias received a yellow card.

The Quakers outshot the Raiders 11-9 in the game.

Mount Union remains on the road when they travel to University Heights and face John Carroll at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15.
