The Boston Breakers are excited to begin their quest to win a WPSL Elite League championship at their new home field, Dilboy Stadium in Somerville. With its 2,500 seat capacity, Dilboy will provide an ideal environment for high-caliber women’s soccer. Newly renovated in 2006, the stadium features a pristine turf field. Dilboy Stadium is located in the Alewife Brook Parkway section of Somerville, and just minutes from Boston.
“We are very excited to be playing at Dilboy Stadium. We spent some time looking at facilities that would be at the high standards we require, but also a stadium which will cater to our fans and provide a great game day atmosphere,” Breakers Associate General Manager Lee Billiard said. “We are very grateful to the city of Somerville and to Mayor Curtatone for allowing the Breakers into their community. As part of our new relationship, we will be working closely with the city of Somerville to help develop soccerappreciation, training and education programming at the community level. Dilboy Stadium is a great facility, and we are eager to get going and see the stands full of Breakers fans.”
The 2012 WPSL Elite League season is expected to begin play in early May. The Breakers will have between seven and ten home games at Dilboy Stadium.
“We are extremely proud and excited that the Boston Breakers have chosen to make Dilboy Stadium in Somerville their new home,” Somerville Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone said. Somerville is a vibrant, young, and diverse city with a wonderful youth soccer program, and I know that the Breakers will be given a warm welcome by our entire community. We are eager to work with both players and management as we approach the start of a new season, and we look forward to having the Breakers become part of the Somerville success story.”
