Canton United Grows with Eagles Select Partnership

Editor June 7, 2015

Canton United Soccer Club is proud to announce that they have reached a strategic partnership with Eagles Select Soccer.

“We are very excited to announce that Eagles Select will be partnering with us at United,” Canton United SC Club Director Damien Marchione commented. “It was obvious to our staff after observing the last couple years of local play that their club had the most competitive teams at the travel level so it makes a natural fit for them now to be partnered with a premier club to provide those more competitive players with greater opportunity as well as providing coaching education and guidance to their staff.”

Eagles Select Soccer is a competitive level soccer club with players from the Plain Local School District and surrounding areas.

“Most importantly, we have allowed them to retain their local identity in the GAASA Travel league as Eagles Select,” Marchione continued. “Instead of taking over the program, we are working together to identify the top talent and develop those that aren’t quite ready yet stressing quality over quantity. Our coaches will work with their players and staff to see which players can be pushed at a higher level, while also allowing them to still represent their community at the travel level and foster those friendships.”

Eagles Select Soccer now joins Green Soccer Association (GSA) as another large soccer community to be officially partnered with Canton United SC as well as a growing list of community programs. GSA is the largest travel program in GAASA (Greater Akron) with over 800 players in its overall program. Going into its third year of a partnership with United, a fluid process has been developed in the partnership benefitting both the travel and premier levels, putting the players in the best possible environments for success.

“We are very excited about our new partnership with Canton United Soccer Club,” Eagles Select Soccer Club President Bill Haymaker concluded. “This partnership will give our players an opportunity to play at a premier level with a professional level coaching staff while maintaining the Eagles Select name and administration at the local competitive level. This partnership will help us achieve our goal of preparing our players for high school soccer and beyond.”

Community programs are now recognizing the benefit of working together with Canton United and coming on board to be a part of the area’s top premier program. The programs understand that by partnering together the players will be provided with the greatest benefit and have a pathway to higher levels of play and instruction. It also benefits the community programs in that they gain exposure to high level instruction and education in order to make their travel programs stronger without losing their name and identity.

With more partnerships to be announced this summer, it is definitely an exciting time to be part of Greater Stark County’s top premier soccer organization.
