Casey Powell Lacrosse 18 (Review)

Editor April 23, 2018

It’s easy to say that lacrosse is on the rise in the United States.  It’s often called the country’s fastest growing sport and for good reason.  The college game, both men’s and women’s, has absolutely exploded with games regularly appearing on major networks like ESPN.

Major League Lacrosse (MLL) is entering its 18th season with nine teams; its playoffs were featured on Twitter and CBS Sports.  Teams regularly average crowds in the thousands.

The National Lacrosse League (NLL) also boasts nine teams and even bigger crowds.  The indoor average is between 9,800 and 10,700, an even higher total than the outdoor game.  The NLL has broadcast deals with Fox, FS1, FS2, and TSN to name a few.

Even the United Women’s Lacrosse League, branded as UWLX, is getting ready to start its third season.

Simply put, it’s a great time to be a lacrosse fan.  It’s an even better time to play lacrosse with Xbox One, PS4, or Steam thanks to Casey Powell Lacrosse 18 from Big Ant and Crosse Studios.  It’s easily the finest lacrosse video game ever created.  Why? Because it is just like the real thing.

Lacrosse is known for its speed of play, physicality, and quick transitions between attack and defense.  That’s all in the game along thanks to a wide array of tactical, gameplay, and customization options.  You have the ability to customize players, teams, stadia, and logos along with building your own style of play and approach to the game.  Or if you are more of a casual fan, you can just pick up and play.  The learning curve is incredibly low so you’ll be playing a great game in just moments.  It’s thoroughly enjoyable whether this is your first experience with lacrosse or you’ve been involved for years.

The AI is absolutely on point and so are the incredible graphics.  This game plays great, but it also looks amazing in every regard.  Player movements, goal celebrations, and stadium environments all add a little something to the experience.  The opportunity to play in career mode reminds me of EA’s famed Dynasty Mode.  And the gameplay, well, can only be described as silky smooth.

If you love lacrosse, you will absolutely cherish this game.  It is a game that is truly fitting of Casey Powell’s name.  The four-time All-American with a 18-year professional career has to be proud of this effort.  The game is just that good.

It’s good enough to make anyone fall in love with lacrosse; even hardcore fans will fall in love with the sport all over again.  You certainly won’t have regrets about Casey Powell Lacrosse 18 unless you don’t buy it now.  That would be the biggest regret of all.
