Connor Gordon Named Mitre National Player of the Week

Home/U.S. Soccer Leagues/NPSL/Connor Gordon Named Mitre National Player of the Week

Orange County FC midfielder Connor Gordon has been selected as the sixth Mitre National Player of the Week for the 2017 NPSL season.

“It is a great honor and privilege to receive this award, but most of the credit has to go to God, the coaches, and my teammates,” Gordon commented. “One of the best things that I saw in my first game with the team was that they really believed in me and made me feel welcome and I was able to pay them back with a good performance and two goals. As a team we were able to fightback from three goals behind, get a result, and give a good show to all the fans that were able to make it to the game, which was the highest priority. Going forward from here and continuing to score goals and wins games will be the most important objective for myself and the rest of the team.”

Gordon scored a brace in his OCFC debut, a 3-3 draw against SoCal SC.  The goals were scored in the 79th and 90th minutes after he entered the game as a substitute in the 44th minute.

“With so many excellent players in the NPSL, it is nice to have an Orange County FC player recognized for his performance,” Orange County FC head coach Paul Caligiuri added.

The Huntington Beach, California native got his start at Edison High School, where he is best known for scoring 27 goals as a senior.  Gordon later became a prolific scorer for Concordia University Irvine, registering 28 goals and 14 assists in just three seasons.

The winner of this national honor is determined by a vote of media members from across the country.  It is awarded every week during the regular season.
