ISN is excited to have former Lansing United and New York Cosmos B standout Brian Cunningham as a guest columnist. Each of his blog entries will share part of his journey as he lives out his dream of becoming a professional footballer across the globe in New Zealand.
3 points on the board please! We have won our first game of the season. It came in Dunedin, NZ against Southern United! Let me tell you, that’s the real down under. It’s the furthest south city on the South Island of the country. Absolutely FREEZING. This must have been where people warned me about those Antarctic winds. Anyhow, it is super green down there and when flying in, one can see all the beautiful mountainous landscape with trees and farms. Long way from New York baby!
In route to Dunedin, we had a short stopover in Wellington. If you ever fly into Wellington, take something for your nerves before. Those winds are playing games. Funny thing is, people were saying “oh it’s not so bad today.” OK!
It was a good week of training and I did enjoy my birthday, thank you! I went back into Ponsonby for dinner. A few friends and I felt for burgers so we visited the highly regarded “Burger Burger.” If you’re thinking “oh why not a fancy dinner for the birthday,” well it’s Ponsonby… So it was a “chic” burger joint. #AioliVs.Mayo
All in all it was a good week and we don’t have to wait that long for the next game! Thursday night HOME vs WaiBop United!
