Crew Fall on the Road

Editor October 4, 2014

The Columbus Crew (11-10-10, 43 points) fell to the New England Revolution (15-13-3, 48 points) by a final score of 2-1 at Gillette Stadium on Saturday, October 4.

The two sides swapped first-half goals, which came within five minutes of one another. It was New England’s Lee Nguyen getting on the scoreboard first in the 20th minute, but Ethan Finlay equalized in the 25th minute following a seeing-eye pass from Tony Tchani. Finlay’s career-high nine tallies are second on the club in 2014.

In the second half, Jermaine Jones headed home a Chris Tierney set piece to break the tie and eventually give the Revolution the win.

With three regular-season matches remaining, the Crew returns to the road again on Saturday, October 11 to face the Philadelphia Union at PPL Park (7:00 p.m. ET, Time Warner Cable SportsChannel).
