Crew Fall to Impact

Editor August 30, 2014

The Columbus Crew (8-9-9, 33 points) fell on the road to the Montreal Impact (5-15-5, 20 points) by a final score of 2-0 at Stade Saputo on Saturday, August 30.

The Impact’s victory was fueled by a brace from newcomer Ignacio Piatti, who was playing his third League match for the club. Piatti broke open the scoring in the 40th minute and added an insurance tally on an Impact counterattack in the 95th minute.

Crew central midfielders Tony Tchani and Wil Trapp received cautions in the contest, and both will miss the Black & Gold’s next MLS game due to yellow card accumulation.

That match is back at Crew Stadium, next Sunday, September 7 at 3:00 p.m. against Western Conference side Chivas USA (Time Warner Cable SportsChannel, UniMas).
