The Dayton Dutch Lions FC have named Technical Director Sid van Druenen as the 2015 PDL Head Coach. Bruno Lopes, Shane Smith, Catherine Gordon, and Eric Kissinger complete the coaching staff.
Van Druenen has been the club’s technical director for the past two years and was the head coach for both the women’s team in 2013 and the men’s professional team in 2014. Van Druenen played semi-professional soccer in Portugal and the Netherlands, possesses a bachelor degree in Sport Science, UEFA B coaching license, and 15 years of experience at all levels.
“I am very happy with this opportunity,” Van Druenen said. “The move to the PDL gives me the opportunity to combine the role of technical director and head coach of the men’s team as the season is only three months long.”
Bruno Lopes and former professional player Shane Smith will join van Druenen as assistant coaches, while Catherine Gordon will function as the goalkeeper coach and Eric Kissinger will take on the role as player/coach.
“All of them bring something special and unique to the table,” van Druenen said. “I am looking forward to working with them on building a strong team and hopefully we can do some damage in the 2015 PDL league.”
The Dayton Dutch Lions FC will compete in the Great Lakes Division of the Central Conference. Regular season games will start on May 21st with a home game against Forrest City London. Kickoff for that match is set at 7:30 pm at the DOC Stadium in West Carrollton.
