The National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) is proud to announce that Duluth FC (Duluth, MN) has joined the league as an expansion team.  The club will compete in the Midwest Region’s North Conference.

“We are happy to continue to grow our brand in Minnesota with Duluth FC,” NPSL Chairman Joe Barone commented. “They bring an impressive structure focused on engaging the community and growing the beautiful game.  Our fans and supporters in the Midwest should be very excited about this announcement.”

Duluth FC is led by Founders Tim and Gabriela Sas, Head Coach Kyle Bakas, and Assistant Coach/Player Manager Mike Sengbush.  Tim also serves as the team’s General Manager, while Gabriela focuses on ticketing and merchandise.

The BlueGreens began as a group of men playing the beautiful game in the Duluth, Minnesota.  The founder is Tim Sas, a local priest, who assembled a team at the prompting of a friend in a joke over a tea at a local café. In the summer of 2015 the Duluth FC played in the Duluth Amateur Soccer League (DASL).  Duluth FC then joined the American Premier League (APL) for the 2016 summer season, while continuing to field a team in the DASL.

“We are a young club who has developed a good relationship with the city we call home,” Tim Sas added. “We have lots of volunteer supporters and engage well with our fans. Our club’s short but unique history informs our preparations for the future. In 2016 our club was undefeated in the American Premier League and we believe that our competitiveness on the pitch will only increase for this year.”

Duluth FC truly lives by the motto of “The Beautiful Game in the Beautiful City.” The club has as part of its founding a Christian connection, thus they strive to serve the community based on Christian principles. They tithe their income to local charities. All youth 15 years old and younger get into home matches with the donation of non-perishable food items, which are then donated to local food banks. All of the Duluth FC players and staff are involved in spending time with disadvantaged children in the city.

The Public Schools Stadium, adjacent to Duluth Denfeld High School in Duluth, will host home matches for Duluth FC.  The facility has excellent amenities and provides an impressive experience for 3,000 spectators. Additionally, it is within one block of numerous restaurants and bars that support the club and players.

More information about the club can be found at www.duluthfc.com or by following the club on Facebook (@DuluthFC), Twitter (@DuluthFC), and Instagram (@DuluthFC).
