EA Sports FC 24 (Review)

EA Sports is in a class of its own, and that message comes through loud and clear with EA Sports FC 24.

The FIFA series, which has been one of the crown jewels in gaming, has rebranded and is now EA Sports FC.  The rebrand has brought about a fresh start to the franchise, and the end result is a masterful product worthy of the beautiful game.

Every aspect of EA Sports FC 24 captures the most powerful and important parts of the sport we all love.

Goal celebrations feel better than ever, and it feels like you actually scored a goal in the big game.  The screen shakes, the fans go wild, and your player celebrates in a variety of ways.

Players look like their real-life counterparts, and each stadium feels like a real gameday experience.  They seem to have done the impossible, replicating 19,000 real-life players and 100+ actual stadiums.  It’s a world of football (and possibilities) in your living room.

Fluid gameplay makes the experience that much better.  It feels and looks like a real game of footy.

The Player Career and Manager Career are easily the deepest options in the game and offers a simulation experience akin to the best parts of Sega’s Football Manager.  It’s a glimpse into the life of a footballer or manager at the highest level, and it’s greatly appreciated.  I remember the Dynasty Mode found in EA’s NCAA Football series that came to a close in 2013, and this brings about the same positive feelings.

While EA Sports faces zero competition when it comes to soccer thanks to the failure of Konami’s eFootball platform, the company didn’t rest on their laurels in the so-called offseason.  EA Sports made all of these improvements since FIFA 23, advancing the game through HyperMotionV, PlayStyles, and the renowned Frostbite Engine.

We admire the work that EA Sports has done in embracing the women’s game, and the result is even more improvements in that area.  EA made a deliberate effort, and it has paid dividends in the equity department.  Again, we appreciate the effort put into this side of the game.

Overall, EA Sports FC 24 is the best option when it comes to the beautiful game, and it far surpasses most of the scores found on Metacritic or given out by IGN, Eurogamer, and Screen Rant.
