Hans Kromanaker: The Pride of Madison

Joseph Raja June 11, 2015

The humbled, honest, and talented Wisconsin native, Hans Kromanaker is prepping for his big game in July, and for his future. Hans, the graduating senior from Robert M. LaFollette High School who has played varsity soccer for his high school team since freshman year, is now done with playing the game for his high school team, but Hans has at least one more game left in him after being selected to participate in the Shale Soccer Classic Presented by Admiral Sports.

Hans spoke on his selection to the showcase.

“It’s a huge honor. I never expected this to happen to me. I’m just baffled that I get this opportunity; it’s awesome. I’m really happy that I’m getting to go to this amazing event and participate in it. I’m really looking forward to it.”

Hans will be participating in a match with some of the best high school players around the country. It is a once in a life time opportunity, but ultimately it is a chance for Hans to showcase his skills for all watching in Ohio on July 24th and 25th, but there will be someone in attendance who has already seen Hans play before.

His father, Alan Kromanaker, spoke about his son and the sport of soccer.

“He just loves the game. He controls the field. He controls the game and is just a leader to the team. They all look up to him… It’s amazing going out there and watching him play.”

When the coach cannot make a practice, Hans would become the one running practice for the coach and the rest of the team. Hans made a club team in the area, Madison FC, which Hans notes is one of his greatest accomplishments, making a premier club team. The young athlete is considered one of the better players in his high school and club teams. Hans, originally of German decent, is not only a supporter of the German National Team, but he bases his game off of Germany’s World Cup winning midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger.

Hans established himself as fantastic athlete and player on the field mainly due to his preparation and his above and beyond work ethic.

“I put in extra time, not just for practice. I’ll stay after practice and work on my shot or work on my touch. I’ll go out even when I don’t have practice and just go and work on things, work on skill moves, work on my shot again, and I’ll go with friends and we’ll work together. It’s just always above and beyond what the average player does. It’s just about doing that extra step to improve my playing.”

Hans truly loves this sport. He expects to play it for the rest of his life, even if it is not at the top level. Hans does not need to play at the highest level to continuously love the sport he has played for so long, but Hans will always play whether it is for club, for fun, or to just stay in shape.

Hans Kromanaker will certainly be playing in the Shale Soccer Classic in July, displaying his talent for all to see.
