The National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) is proud to announce Chattanooga FC goalkeeper Gregory Hartley as the recipient of the 2016 NPSL Golden Glove award. The award, given to the league’s top goalkeeper, was voted on by NPSL teams throughout the country. Hartley has won the NPSL Golden Glove award an unprecedented three years in a row.
In 2016 Hartley allowed just two goals in league play for a 0.29 GAA.
“There aren’t enough words to adequately describe what Greg means to Chattanooga FC,” Chattanooga FC General Manager Sean McDaniel commented. “What he brings to our community, both on and off the pitch, are unprecedented. He’s a part of our family and we are honored that he calls Chattanooga his home.”
Hartley also received the 2014 and 2015 NPSL Golden Glove awards after leading Chattanooga to the national title game in both seasons. He has been a member of Chattanooga FC since 2012.
In the 2016 postseason with CFC, Hartley had a 0.6 GAA (three goals in five matches). Hartley’s highlight of the playoffs was during the regional final versus Miami United FC when the match went into extra time and then penalties. Hartley stopped one of the Miami United FC penalty kicks, and then Hartley himself took and made the fifth and final penalty kick for CFC, which won CFC its third straight region championship.
He is currently a coach with Chattanooga FC Academy and Dalton State (Dalton, GA).
“It’s amazing to receive this award for the third time in a row,” Hartley added. “This award wouldn’t be possible if I didn’t have a great team in front of me, so this award goes to them.”
The Manchester, England native has spent time with the Manchester City Academy, Lindsey Wilson College, Belhaven University, and Georgia Gwinnett College. Hartley ended his collegiate soccer career in the fall of 2012 after earning a laundry list of awards including NAIA All-American, SSAC Defensive Player of the Year, SSAC All-Conference Team, NAIA National Defensive Player of the Week, and SSAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.
