Detroit WAZA FLO is on a hot streak, crushing the Louisville Lightning in an extremely physical home opener yesterday afternoon at the Taylor Sportsplex with a score of 9-3.
“After working through a rocky first period, we came together perfectly,” said Detroit Head Coach Dominic Scicluna. “We will have to continue to work harder and smarter to stay on top this season.”
“Louisville started with a high degree of energy, but we matched that after the first ten minutes and controlled the rest of the game,” added Detroit Head Coach Costea Decu.
Nelson Diaz, Ryan Mack, Ricardo Lopes, and Dominic Scicluna led Detroit WAZA FLO’s (2-0) scoring drive each with one goal. In addition, Miki Djerislio and Aaron Byrd scored twice and Costea Decu added a point of his own.
Detroit continued to dominate for the remainder of the game allowing Louisville (0-1) only three, with Corey Maret and Scott Stockum in the second period, and Ross Hopkins in the fourth.
Louisville suffered a severe blow when their goalkeeper, Frank Peabody, went down with a dislocated elbow and was removed from the field with seconds left in the game.
Detroit returns to the field Saturday night November 12th, when they host the Ohio Vortex at the Taylor Sportsplex with a 7:35 kickoff.
