Keeping up with the Biggest Transfers in the Premier League

Editor August 20, 2015

For many fans, the closing week of the transfer window is one of the most exciting weeks of the season, and can make or break a team’s season. Usually, there’s a flurry of transfer activity in the closing weeks, where teams are frantically trying to add players to their roster without paying over the odds.

The English Premier League has built up a reputation of doing a lot of its biggest transfers during the closing stages of the window. You only have to look back at last year when Manchester United brought in Radamel Falcao only moments before the window closed albeit on a loan from AS Monaco. A year before that we saw German midfield maestro Metsul Ozil leave Real Madrid for Arsenal on deadline day. Look at the Telegraph’s list here of the biggest deadline day deals.

With the end of the window approaching, it’s important that football fans follow the best Twitter accounts to keep abreast with all the breaking news. So here are our three top Twitter accounts to follow deadline day:

@SportsPeteO – Peter O’Rourke used to work for Sky Sports, so his network of contacts is extremely good. If a transfer is happening or has gone through regardless of which division in English football, O’Rourke will post about it. Currently he’s a freelance journalists so being visible online is something that he has the utmost intention of doing.

@DeadlineDayLive – Every, and we mean, every notable transfer gets posted on this account. We have no idea who is behind this account but they must have some reputable contacts as they often break news before some of the leading media outlets.

@SkySportsNewsHQ – The UK’s premier football channel, Sky Sports’ extensive team of journalists will cover all 92-league clubs on the closing day of the window. They will also tweet all the sealed transfers and rumours through this account.

With nearly 18% of the world’s population able to access the Internet via mobile as reported by PocketFruity developers Gaming Realms, it has given so many people access to breaking news in real-time. With the above accounts, we feel this will be a great starting point to hearing about all the latest transfers.

What accounts do you follow that break news as it happens? Share your recommendations with our readership below.
