The National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) is proud to announce that Los Angeles United Football Club (Los Angeles, CA) has joined the league as an expansion team. The club will begin competition in the West Region’s Southwest Conference in 2019.
“The NPSL is thrilled to be penetrating further into the Los Angeles market,” NPSL Managing Director Cindy Spera commented. “We are expecting great rivalries and exciting players to emerge from this area, a true hotbed of talent in the U.S.”
The leadership of LA United FC includes President/Chairman Harry Tachian, Director of Operations Vasken Nahabed, Director of Marketing Mary Beth Sales, and Head Team Physician Dr. Wenjay Sung.
“We chose the NPSL because the league is all about being competitors on the field and partners off, a united approach and comradery amongst all, a welcoming and family atmosphere,” Tachian added. “We expect to build a competitive team and raise awareness within the community about our new club and the NPSL.”
Tachian, who is majority owner of LAUFC, is a seasoned entrepreneur with a youth background in competitive soccer, attending academies throughout Europe. Along the course of his success in real estate, Tachian invested and ventured into a variety of new businesses, some of recent being the FoodBall Network (FBN) that is a U.S.-based digital media and entertainment company that delivers premium content centered around food and sports topics. Tachian also is Founder and Chairman of Score for the Heart, a non-profit organization contributing to minors with Congenital Heart Disease (CHD), a foundation he started due to a condition he has struggled with most of his life.
Nahabed is a seasoned entrepreneur with great leadership and management strengths. Sales is a public relations expert, media commentator, mentor, and publicist for many athletes in all areas of sports. Dr. Sung is board certified by the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery and is a fellow of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons. He is also a national and international lecturer on foot and ankle surgery.
“We will respect the existing clubs in our conference, come to compete at a high level, and have fun while playing a beautiful style of the greatest sport in the world,” Tachian added.
