There is no doubt that Luis Suarez is one of the world’s best footballers, but his antics on and off the field have also made him the most controversial. No wonder Frank Worrall wrote a book about him; he was a story waiting to be told.
Luis Suarez: The Biography of the World’s Most Controversial Footballer is a great read thanks to the author, someone who is able to lend some insight into the Suarez situation. Worrall is a great biographer, having penned enormously successful titles on Chicharito, Rooney, Bale, and Balotelli. He clearly knows what he is doing, especially when it comes to the misunderstood and the enigmatic.
This title takes the reader all the way back to the beginning of Suarez’s career during his days as a young and talented prospect. It covers his meteoric rise from Uruguay to Holland to England and now to Spain.
The highest of the highs (stardom at Ajax, earning a transfer to Liverpool) and the lowest of the lows (biting incidents, accusations of racism, a deliberate handball) are covered in great detail. Suarez was not actively involved with this title, but Worrall made up for that with tons of inside information and insights from players, coaches, and media members.
Reading this book gives you a glimpse into who Suarez really is and why he acts the way that he does. Worrall truly hits another home run with this one, proving why we think he is the best biographer in the soccer business.
