A goal by Kelsey Malenic with less than two minutes to go in the game propelled the Mount Union women’s soccer team to a 2-1 victory over Oswego State (N.Y.) in game one of the Blue Devil Clarion Classic.
The Purple Raiders (2-0) led 1-0 at halftime on a goal from Kolbie Haines in the eighth minute. Oswego (1-2) tied the game in the 54th minute on a goal from Nicole Perniciaro.
Malenic’s game-winner came on a through ball from freshman Katie Goedecke. Senior keeper Maria Favorite anchored the defense with 12 saves as the Raiders were outshot 24-9.
