Manchester United Collectibles (Review)

Editor September 9, 2018

Amberley Publishing always get the right experts to pen their books and Manchester United Collectibles is no exception.

Iain McCartney was clearly the right man for the job as a lifelong Manchester United supporter and chairman of the Manchester United Writers Association.  He has run the Manchester United Review Collectors Club for the past 23 years.  Not to mention that he has written over two dozen books, most of which were about Man U.  Simply put, McCartney is one of the world’s top experts on the Red Devils.

This isn’t the first sports memorabilia title published by Amberley; we had the pleasure of reviewing the amazing Rugby Union Memorabilia back in 2016.

You’ll find this title to be a modest 97 pages, but it is jam-packed with great information, stories, and photographs.  Some of the items discussed are well-known, while others have never been part of any past publication.  It’s an incredible read and we learned a lot about the club’s history.

We learned even more about the collectors that have a passion for the club that goes beyond attending matches or watching matches on the telly.  It’s a lifetime of obsessing over the one that got away or the latest and greatest collectible on the market.

McCartney does a brilliant job throughout, staying focused and organized while delivering a plethora of information.

If you are a fan of sports memorabilia, this is the title for you.  And if you are a Manchester United supporter (and there are millions of you worldwide), you definitely need to take a look at this book. Based on the size of the audience, we’re guessing this title will be in high demand.  It’s truly a one-of-a-kind title from a great author and publisher.
