The National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) is proud to announce that New York Red Bulls U-23 midfielder Victor Manosalvas is the recipient of the 2014 Mitre Golden Ball. The award is given to the league’s top player as voted by the teams themselves.
“This award means a lot to me, coming into my senior year of college especially, it gives me a little boost of confidence,” said Manosalvas. “It’s a great award because we had a really great season and I couldn’t have done it without the help of coach Simon [Nee] and all of my teammates.”
Along with winning the Golden Ball Award, Manosalvas, along with two other players, were awarded the PUMA Golden Boot for the league’s top goal scorer. The standout midfielder was also named to the 2014 All-NPSL Team as part of a media vote.
“I am delighted for Victor that he has been recognized for an excellent season,” said NYRB U-23 head coach Simon Nee. “Victor is an intelligent, technically gifted play maker that has been an integral part of the team success. His attitude, work rate, and professionalism support his desire to play at the next level.”
“He is a first class individual and a pleasure to coach. I have enjoyed watching him play and develop with the club this summer.”
Manosalvas, who scored 12 goals and added seven assists this season, helped lead his team to the 2014 NPSL Championship where they defeated Chattanooga FC 3-1 at Red Bull Arena on August 2. Manosalvas and the Red Bulls capped off an undefeated season with the win over Chattanooga.
The Clifton, NJ native is set to enter his redshirt senior season at Seton Hall University after missing the 2012 season with an injury. In 2013, the midfielder recorded a team-high five assists for the Pirates. Manosalvas has seven career assists and has added one goal in his three seasons at Seton Hall.
